GlobalOptions Privacy Policy


GlobalOptions Services, Inc. and its affiliates (“GlobalOptions”) are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected when your personal data is in our possession. The scope of this privacy policy includes the collection, utilization of and disclosure of personal information in the possession of GlobalOptions, whether received from our clients, our website or developed/discovered during the normal course of business.


Collection of Personal Data

GlobalOptions may, in the normal course of business, obtain personal data, including sensitive personal data (“personal data”). This information may include, but is not limited to, names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and Social Security Numbers/National Identification Numbers. The personal data that GlobalOptions collects during the course of doing business may be your own, or in the case where you are the representative of a GlobalOptions client, may be data related to the subject of a valid investigation which is intended to legally gather information related to fraud mitigation or other business decisions. GlobalOptions will not request that a client provide any personal data about themselves or an investigation subject without a valid business need for such data.

In addition to the information outlined above, GlobalOptions may collect data about the computer from which you access its website or systems (IP address, browser type and version, etc.) and the pages accessed within the website or system. Website or system usage data will be used for the purpose of reviewing proper use and function of systems and websites. GlobalOptions may also collect limited personal data needed to contact you if you are electronically submitting a resume and/or response to a job posting (such as name, address, phone number and email address).


Use and Disclosure of Personal Data

GlobalOptions collects personal data necessary for the purpose of delivering investigative and related services to clients and ensuring the usability and security of its website and systems, and may periodically utilize such information to contact you for the purpose of collecting client feedback or to alert you to the availability of products and services.

GlobalOptions employee access to personal data is restricted to those employees who need access to the information in order to provide requested services to our clients, and such employees receive annual training regarding proper handling and utilization of such data. GlobalOptions' employees are strictly forbidden from utilizing personal data for any purpose other than that for which it was provided, and are strictly forbidden from providing such information to any internal or external party without a valid need to know. Failure to comply with this policy is grounds for immediate termination.

GlobalOptions does not lease, rent or sell personal relating to any clients or investigation subjects for marketing or any other purposes, and further does not provide such information to third parties except for instances in which a trusted third party is assisting with or providing additional value to a service that has been requested from GlobalOptions. Such third parties are strictly prohibited from utilizing personal data other than for the specific purpose for which it was provided, and must acknowledge acceptance of such criteria in writing.


Storage and Transfer of Personal Data

GlobalOptions’ servers and systems are located in Orlando, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. Personal information provided to or developed by GlobalOptions during the normal course of business will reside on secure servers in these locations. Transfer of personal data to the United States for processing and/or storage within these servers and systems will be made over an encrypted connection and will be conducted in accordance with applicable data privacy and protection laws and regulations.


Use of Cookies

Cookies are files that web sites may place on your computer or other internet connected device when you visit a website. Cookies are used for several purposes, including remembering user site preferences, collecting information about the navigation and use of a website for analytical purposes and allowing the site to suggest content based on past use/behavior. Most web browsers provide the user with the option to reject cookies from websites. Disabling cookies may have an adverse impact on your use and the performance of GlobalOptions’ sites and systems. Note that you will need to change the cookie settings for each browser on each device that you use to ensure that cookies are not utilized during any site visits.

GlobalOptions uses cookies solely to collect data about usage of its websites and web-based systems and to remember user preferences within those sites and systems (for example, saving a username to avoid typing it during each visit). Cookies are not used to collect and/or transmit personal data.


Compliance with US-EU and US-Swiss Safe Harbor Frameworks

GlobalOptions complies with the US-EU Safe Harbor Framework and US-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework as set forth by the US Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and Switzerland. GlobalOptions has certified that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement. In compliance with the US-EU and US-Swiss Safe Harbor Principles, GlobalOptions commits to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information. European Union or Swiss citizens with inquiries or complaints regarding this privacy policy should first contact GlobalOptions at privacy@globaloptions.com.

GlobalOptions has further committed to refer unresolved privacy complaints under the US-EU and US-Swiss Safe Harbor Principles to an independent dispute resolution mechanism, the BBB EU SAFE HARBOR, operated by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
